Scheduling MITIE service visits
MITIE TRANSPORTATION SERVICES, responsible for cleaning over 18,000 bus stops once every three months and 5,800 bus shelters every two weeks, is using Paragon's routing and scheduling software with NAVTEQ Street Level mapping to remodel fixed routes and produce accurate driver schedules - taking account of one-way streets, no-entries and turn restriction information - for its team of 40 home-based service technicians. With bus stop, shelter and roof operations requiring different cleaning equipment, chemicals and time intervals between visits, MITIE needed a solution capable of routing thousands of individual visits a year as well as generating efficient schedules for operators and maximizing asset utilization.
In addition to moving from manual planning to automated routing and scheduling, MITIE will soon be taking things one step further with the introduction of Fleet Controller. Having established a link with in-cab communications supplied by TRACKER Network to monitor actual truck movements, Paragon’s Fleet Controller software will be used for planned versus actual performance reporting. "It is essential for us to be able to see and prove that our technicians made the scheduled calls as planned and the link between Fleet Controller and TRACKER Network’s in-truck technology will enable us to do this easily and cost effectively," comments MITIE’s Lisa Fieldhouse. "The TRACKER in-truck units capture regular location and status data throughout the day and the Paragon Fleet Controller software then automatically matches the information for each technician with their plan. This provides us with a clear picture of our overall service performance and highlights any anomalies that can then be addressed."
